Taking up iOS Development

Developing iOS apps, why not? [started 21/11/2017]

So, deep inside I’ve always wanted to start coding again. Looking around, I decided to take-up iOS development. Most of the time, before I do something, I read through stuff in the internet before actually doing it. And as everybody who surf the net have experienced, its an information jungle out there and could be overwhelming. That’s just after 30 minutes of reading 🙂 I have a Mac, why don’t we just get started by downloading Xcode. (will update soon – just don’t wait up, its only 5GB, with this speed I’ll get back in a century perhaps)

After downloading, then I extracted, which took quite a while on my MacBook Air 11”. Didn’t know for sure what’s next, but then I saw Xcode-beta, so clicked it. Then it started installing.

Finally, voilà…

(be back after successfully implementing the infamously inconsequential yet imperative introductory program: “Hello world”)

Swift 4 [updated 22/11/2017]

Sorry to disappoint, world, but before starting to make iOS apps, it seems that one must learn The Swift Programming Language (Swift 4). Here‘s the tutorial from Apple Dev that I’m going through.

iOS Apps Dev [updated 23/11/2017]

Done with the tutorial above! It was a good Swift walkthrough. Easy to follow, many examples, and some experiments. Although I struggled through the last topics, but I thought I’ll get back to it whenever I need it. From experience, I know that in programming you just need to jump-in, or else you’ll never start.

So now I start learning how to develop iOS apps, right from the very beginning (n00b level). Here‘s the guide by Apple Dev.
