Alright… You now see ads in my blog 🙂 Sorry if it’s annoying, there are many ways to sooth you. One of it should be reading my interesting ramblings. Below is my Google AdSense sign up story.
Posh up your site
Before heading to AdSense, you need to prepare your site. Posh it up a bit. Here’s what I did:
- Content, content, content. To be frank I don’t know what the official guideline is in Mountain View, but in general your content should have potential to flourish in the midst of the internet ocean of information. At least, it should be interesting enough to
the reviewer not to make him/her doze off while checking ita bunch of peculiarpeople.
- Contact: WPForms WordPress Plugin. It’s number 1 on this list. Very easy to use. Format the form first, then get the code, make a new page, paste the code, and voila… Owh, don’t forget to place the email address, where you want to receive your readers complaints 🙂
Now your site should be ready. I’m no expert, its my first time, so if you have better notes regarding preparing a site before ads placement, please do comment below.
Google AdSense Sign Up
I guess most of us have Google accounts. So, just head up to the AdSense site. You will need to sign-up first (even if you’ve previously had a Google account). I clicked on Sign-In and was directed to Sign-Up. There are some fields to complete, info regarding your site.
After successfully signing-up, you will get a code from Google AdSense. You need to paste it in the Head html section of your site. Don’t know where it is, don’t know what html is? Easy peasy… Get Insert Headers and Footers WordPress plugin, paste the code on the header section, save! Get back to AdSense and confirm that you have pasted the code on your site.
If all goes well, Google will then show you a message that your site is under review. Prepare a Xanax (or not), it says to wait around 3 days. In my experience, according to my Gmail, I submitted around 12.22pm, and (no Xanax swallowed) I was approved 4.48pm. Hurrah!! Let me know you best my approval time in the comment section, so mine is 4 hours and 26 minutes, please use Gmail time.
I have no idea how to setup, conveniently Google has this section (you will by default to lead to it anyway) Page-level ads. Simple-minded me just hit Turn on all formats,
in the lower section of this page, there is a Test it out button, hit it and go to one of your page.
For example, https://trinaest.me/ios-development and add #googleads at the end; https://trinaest.me/ios-development#googleads should be something like this. The ads should appear anywhere Google’s algorithm choose to. So there you have it. Welcome to the world of cent-onaire! You will hopefully start receiving your cents soon.
